Halloween Treats & Sweets...

Spooky-Cat-Treats

Back again!  :-)

Tonight is the first group post for the August Papertrey countdown!  Tonight the design team is focusing on a very fun new Halloween set called Halloween Treats & Sweets!  This set was designed by Heather Nichols and it's chock full of fun images and sentiments for creating Halloween treats, favors, cards, and more.  The set contains several different Halloween-ish (but ca-uuute!) faces.  These faces can be stamped on just about anything...and then accessorized with the coordinating stamps and dies.  There are small images and mega-sized images (and dies for both sizes) so you can create small treats or larger treats.

Halloween Treats & Sweets along with the coordinating dies will be available on August 15th from Papertrey Ink's website.

For my projects tonight, I am using both the large and small cat images.  What's better for Halloween than a spooky black cat?  First off, I used the large cat face to create a treat jar.  These basic glass canning jars have become a mainstay for me when packaging treats and goodies.  They can be purchased everywhere and you can customize them for any occasion...it's like your little black dress of treat containers.

I was going for a very rustic, vintage-vibe look for today's project.  I stamped the cat face onto a Mat Stack 1 Die (layered over the new Layerz Mat Stack 1...same shape, just a little bit bigger to act as a mat for the original Mat Stack dies....YAY!!).  I then spritzed it with some Leather Glimmer Mist to give it some age and character, then embellished it with felt ears (cut with the coordinating dies), pipecleaner whiskers and a rusty jingle bell nose.

I created the ruffle around the neck of the jar by putting a line of double sided tape just below where the lid screws on.  Then I took plain black crepe paper (the kind you get on a roll at any party/discount/dollar store), folded it in half and started pleating it onto the tape.  A very quick and easy way to add a cute ruffle to your jar.

For my second project tonight I'm using the small cat image.  I combined it with the Seed Packet die to create some quick and easy treat pouches.  I stamped the cat face onto the flap of the seed packet with VersaMark and then embossed it with white embossing powder.  I diecut the ears from True Black felt.

I used my oval cutter to cut ovals from patterned paper to mimic the cat's belly.  The arms holding the treat basket are actually the bat wings from this set.   I gave my kitties sparkly pipecleaner tails for a bit of sparkle and fun.

The seed packets are just large enough to tuck a small candy bar.

Well, that's all from me tonight...I hope you enjoyed a little peek into autumn tonight.  I know I sure am anxious for fall...it's actually feeling a bit like it here the last few days and I LOVE it.

Now be sure to hop around to the other design team members if you haven't already.  They've all been cooking up their own versions of Halloween Treats & Sweets.
