Attitude of Gratitude...

Grateful-Notes2

Having an attitidue of gratitude is something I talk to my children about continually.  In fact, my daughter and I had little conversation about it again just today.  We were having some grumpiness after her 8th birthday party hoopla and she needed some not-so-gentle reminders to be gracious and thankful.  It's something I really desire to impart to my children...somedays I'm not sure I'm succeeding...but I'll keep trying.

Today, the Papertrey Ink design team is focusing on a brand new stamp set by Dawn McVey called Gratitude Journal.  It's a beautiful set with a beautiful theme and will be available for purchase on the Papertrey website on August 15th.  It's perfect for creating albums and journals as well as a million other gratitude themed projects...cards, table decor, place cards, food wraps and more.  And definitely not just for the Thanksgiving season...I don't think gratitude should be limited to a certain season, but recognized all year long.

I have a very simple project for you today using Dawn's new Gratitude Journal set.  I combined images from this set with the Library Pocket die to create a pretty set of notecards.  These are simple to create, with limited supplies.

I diecut two Library Pockets for each notecard.  Inside is a small card, which is inserted into the two pockets.  When pulled open, it reveals the rest of the sentiment.  All of the images and sentiments I used here are from the Gratitude Journal set.

Let me show you a few step-by-step shots...

I started by diecutting an assembling two Library Pockets.  I then took the solid border stamp from the set and stamped it across the center of each one using Summer Sunrise ink.

I then tooke the narrow scallop border and stamped it above and below the yellow strip.  I love the way it looks like a pretty ribbon!

Now for the inside.  I cut a 3 1/2" x 2 5/8" block of cardstock to fit inside the two pockets.  I stamped it with the "You" from the set.  The "for" was stamped by just inking the last word on the "So grateful for you" sentiment.  I stamped everything off to the right of the card so that when pulled open, the sentiment shows.

I also stamped the pretty bracket/flourish image vertically across each stamped ribbon.  Next, I tucked the card inside the left pocket.  I added a bit of adhesive just around the notch of the pocket.

Grateful-step4

I adhered my stamped circle (punched with a 1" circle and matted with a 1 3/8" circle) just to this left pocket and then inserted the card.

Now slip the other pocket onto the other side of the card.

I really love the way these turned out...they would be perfect to tuck in a gift.  They are also the perfect size for a gift card.  This would be a fun idea for holiday gift card giving as well...just changed the sentiment to something holiday-ish.
