Introducing Gracious Vases...
June 09, 2011
Hello there! Tonight marks the kick-off for the June Papertrey Ink countdown! Today I get to help introduce to you a brand new set by Maile Belles called Gracious Vases. If you love Maile's signature modern/clean style you will LOVE this set. It's been a blast to play with...so many different possibilities! The set will be available for purchase on the 15th of June from the Papertrey Ink website.
I'm going to start off with my favorite project of the night! I used the outline images of the vases and stamped them onto various pretty papers. I cut them out and lined them up inside an embossed frame (Cuttlebug folder). There are also a few fillers for the vases. I used the cute flower cluster in one of the vases, stamped in Hibiscus ink.
This card makes me think of a room that simply could not exist in my home...a room that's all white with some touches of bright color. Nope, not gonna happen with kids, but I love looking at those types of rooms and this card gives me a little piece of that. :-) I used a 1/2" circle punch to punch notches in the sides of the cardstock to hold my New Leaf twine in place. It's a fun and easy way to add a little pizazz.
Next up is slightly more rustic approach. I used the solid vase images this time around. I first stamped them in some of my favorite Papertrey colors (see supply list below), then went back and stamped over them again using VersaMark ink, then embossed with clear embossing powder. While the powder was still hot, I pressed a stamp from the Background Basics: Geometrics set into the design to give the vases a texture.
You can learn more about this technique HERE, where I did a tutorial about it. I love the texture it gives the vases...they almost look like glazed pottery. It gives them a beautiful shine, which didn't capture very well on the photos...you'll just have to take my word for it that it's prettier in real life. :-) I colored the orchid stem with a white pencil. There's also some pretty new patterned paper in the background! The multi-color is Basic Grey, but the other is from Dawn's new Damask Designs paper pack!
And lastly, I couldn't leave you without presenting you a totally different use for this set, could I? You know how I love to find different uses for sets. This time I stamped the tall oval-like vase across the top of a Large Scallop Border die cut and stamped the bouquet of flowers from the set right inside each scallop. It almost resembles ribbon run through an eyelet lace, doesn't it?
I also stamped the flower cluster around a Turning a New Leaf diecut and embossed them with white embossing powder. All of the sentiments on my cards tonight are from Gracious Vases as well. I'm loving the mix of fonts and how you can mix and match several of the words since a lot of them are seperate. It allows for lots of possibilities!
All of the supplies used in my cards can be found in the thumbnail links below, with the exception of the products that are not released yet, in which case they have been noted.
That's all from me tonight, but there's a ton more inspiration to be had! Maile and Nichole will have more projects with Gracious Vases, and Melissa, Alli, Heather, and Dawn will all have peeks of the new sets they are releasing this month.
I'll be back with two more countdown posts this week! Enjoy!
