Fruit Fusion....

Hey there, friends.  It's Papertrey Ink Group Post day!  Today the team is posting projects using the brand new Fruit Fusion collection!   Fruit Fusion is a collection of 6 different mini sets, each one featuring a different fruit and some coordinating sentiments....some classic, some punny.  I chose to work with the super cute Fruit Fusion: Pear.  I love pears...I don't like to eat them, but I love just about anything with pears on it.  Crazy, huh?

Have you seen the adorable pear pin cushions that have been floating around the web and the crafting world for the past year or so?  SO cute.  I've been wanting to try my hand at making one myself...just never had the time.  Nothing like an assignment to push me over the edge from wanting to do something to actually doing it!

 

The punny sentiments in this set are great for lovey-dovey type projects, but I think with the right sentiment "pearing" (wow....that was baaaaaad) they could work for other occasions too!  Here I paired the "we make a great pear" with a Thank You sentiment from Inside and Out: Thank You.  This would make an adorable thank you gift for a crafty friend or co-worker.

Stitching up the pear was actually easier than I had anticipated.  I found a free pattern online HERE.  I used the leaf die from Sending You to cut the leaf.  I then paper pieced a fun pear charm using the new Fruit Fusion: Pear die and papers from October Afternoon's 5 and Dime collection and Pink Paislee's Hometown Summer.  I just attached it along with a sentiment tag using leaf stick pins from Maya Road.

 

And of course, who can give a gift without a coordinating card?  I used another paper-pieced pear as the focal point and added an embossed sentiment.

 

Together they make a fun and colorful gift ensemble!
