Tiny Treats: Birthday
January 12, 2011
Welcome to group post day for the January Papertrey Ink countdown! Today the team is featuring the newest addition to the Tiny Treats collection...Tiny Treats: Birthday! Filled with sweet images and sentiments along with a brand new Mat Stack image and die!
I chose to work with the princess image from the set to create a party ensemble worthy of a princess!
This set is great for invitations, decor, and treats. Let's start out with the invitation. I created this simple card using the new mat image from the set as well as the "hey, little lady" sentiment, which is really meant to go with the adorable lady bug from the set, but I thought it worked well with the princess as well. The "You're Invited" is from Just the Ticket.
For favors I created some cute wands. Very simple...I'll show you how in a bit!
And what's a party without goodies? I created a treat wrap using the new jumbo Shape Up: Cupcake die. I cut it on the fold and turned it upside down. Add some pigtails and a crown and you have a princess! The crown was created using the "left overs" from the Large Scallop Border die. They eyes are 0's from the Simple Alphabet.
Inside is a medium glassine bag filled with candy.
I put together a PDF with instructions as well as a template for the hair. Click on the link below to download the PDF.

Now for a quick how-to on the wands. They are created from very basic supplies...I was stormed in under nearly a foot of snow the day I made these, so they had to be made from things I had around the house! ;-) Necessity is the mother of invention, right?
The wand is made from a pencil. Secure ribbon to the top with a piece of Scor-Tape. Begin wrapping the ribbon around the pencil. Continue until the entire thing is covered, then secure with another piece of Scor-Tape.
Wrap a silver pipe cleaner around and embellish the bottom with a pom-pom, attaching with a dab of hot glue.
Another option for the end of the wand is a jingle bell. Tie some lengths of silk ribbon through the hook in the top of the bell, then attach with a dab of hot glue.
Diecut two large stares using the Seeing Stars die collection. Use hot glue to attach the wand to one of the stars.
Embellish the other star with a diecut felt star and a stamped image. I stamped that adorable princess onto the Friendship Jar Label and colored her with some bright Copics.
Now adhere the second star to the wand by adhering just the tips of the stars together. Now you can tie some silk ribbon around the top of the wand and even sprinkle with some chunky glitter if you'd like.
Voila! Princess worthy party favors.
Now be sure to hop around to the other design team members to see what party goods they've created using the new Tiny Treats: Birthday!
