It's a Banner Day...
November 12, 2010
Welcome to Papertrey Group Post day! Today we are featuring all of the new banner products that will be available for purchase on the 15th of November. There are dies and stamps and endless possibilities! When combining them with other sets in your collection you could literally design something for any occasion!
First off, Nichole challenged us each to create a full-sized banner using the new dies. I decided to create a spring theme banner. I wanted it to look like something that a woman from the 1930's would have created with supplies she plucked from her sewing basket. I combined lots of different patterned papers...basically just pulling things from my scrap bucket that reminded me of vintage calico prints or feedsacks.
I used the Basic Banners dies for the bases...I love that there are two dies, one slightly larger than the other which makes layering a breeze! To connect all of the banner pieces, I just ran them through my sewing machine, stitching across the tops...feeding them through right after eachother without cutting the threads.
I used the Banner Borders die to cut the flaps on the tops of each banner. I stamped them with images that reminded me of something that would have been cut from an old magazine or pattern book. I used the ruler and bingo card from It's Official, and some backgrounds from Background Basics: Tin Types. The cirlces behind the chipboard letters are from Tags for Spring.
The ends of the banner have butterflies diecut from vintage pattern tissue...one is Dawn's new Signature Series Butterfly, and the other is the butterfly that coordinates with Butterfly Dreams. I stuck a pretty stick pin through the center of them.
Then, Nichole also challenged us to use the new small-scale banner products to create a card. I went with a birthday theme becasue these little banners just feel like a party!
I used the small banner dies and the new Banner Builder stamp set along with the window image from Home Made. I diecut some clouds from scrap paper and used them as masks when inking my background.
It kind of feels like a party, doesn't it?
If you're up for more celebrating, hop around to the other DT gals to see what they've whipped up with the new banner goodies!
