Vintage Findings Day 2

Vintage Findings Day 1...

Hello everybody!  I'm so excited about the things I am going to have going on here on my little blog this week.  It's my day to post over on the Paper Crafts Connection blog and in my post there today I talk a little about one of my cards that was on the cover of the new Nov/Dec issue...

Nov-Dec_2010

My card is the one on the top with the bird.  The bird image isn't a stamp or a rub-on...it's actually a vintage iron-on embroidery pattern.  So fun!  Click on over to the Paper Crafts Connection blog to read a little more about it and see another holiday card I made with the same technique.

I came across a whole box of these iron-ons at an estate sale a while back, with the intention of using them in my paper crafting...they are so very fun, with an authentic vintage charm.

I love using vintage items in my paper crafts and this week I'm going to be doing a little series with posts all about incorporating these fun vintage finds into your paper crafting...I hope to give you some ideas of things to keep an eye out for while shopping (aka junking!!) and how to use them.

I thought I'd kick it off with another card using one of the vintage transfers...

The floral design on the pink frame is one of the transfers that was in the box...I ironed it onto patterned paper and cut it out.  I topped it off with a canvas tag from 7 Gypsies and some vintage buttons...which I LOVE...especially when the holes are still threaded.  It makes me wonder about the hands that stitched them...

I love how these vintage items are right at home with the new items, like the text paper and the doily and floral papers.  The vintage look is so in, that it's easy to throw in the authentic vintage pieces and have them look right at home.  If you're interested in trying this for yourself, I noticed that there are tons of listings on Etsy for similar iron-on designs.  Just do a search for "embroidery transfers" in the vintage category.

Tomorrow I'll have a few projects that incorporate vintage textiles, so stop back!  And be sure to hop over to the Paper Crafts Connection blog to leave a comment on my post there...you could win a packet of vintage paper goodies!
