Calendar Basics...
September 12, 2010
It's group post time for the Papertrey Ink countdown! Today the design team is showcasing projects using the new Calendar Basics set. This set will be available for sale on the 15th of September. It is such a fun and versatile set that you will be able to create all sorts of holiday gifts with! There are so many options, just wait until you see everything the DT has in store today using this set and its companion products!
I chose to create a desktop photo calendar using the Calendar Page die in a unique way...read on for details!
Here is the closeup of the front cover. I combined many of the stamps from this set and then topped it off with the pretty bracket from Vintage Labels. I diecut the entire thing using Mat Stack #4. The edges of the cover were stamped with images from Calendar Basics, Embellishments and Giga Guidelines.
I made the piece stand up by folding and scoring a full sheet of cardstock to create a stand for the calendar. All of the pages were bound using my Bind-it-All machine.
Here's the fun part....I diecut 24 calendar pages...then trimmed them down and turned them in opposite orientations to create a sort of flip-calendar. One side holds the photos, the other holds the small, pre-printed 2 1/2" calendar pages. The photos and the calendar pages can be flipped seperately so that you can display any photo you want, and change them up throughout the month.
Here I just flipped the photo page to display a photo of my older daughter. The calendar sheets and photos can be easily swapped out so that the actual base of the calendar can be used for years to come.
The pre-printed calendar pages are white, so I decided to give them a little color by misting them with some Glimmer Mist. You can stamp the month in any color your heart desires and you can highlight birthdays, anniversaries and holidays with the tiny stamps from the set.
And just to show the versatility of the set, Nichole challenged the DT to also create a card with this set. I chose to create a birthday card. I used the calendar page die, trimmed it down and inserted my stamped focal point.
There is a fun dotted corner stamp in the set which, when stamped four times in a square makes an adorable label-style frame. One of the images from Vintage Labes fits just perfectly inside. I trimmed it down to 2 1/2" square, the same size as the pre-printed calendar pages so it fits nicely in the tabs. The sentiments are all from the calendar set, which makes it so versatile!
Well, thanks for stopping by! Be sure to check out what the other DT girls did with Calendar Basics! I know I can't wait to see!
