Paper Crafts Magazine Presents: A Card Style Mystery Blog Hop

Hello friends!  So....you're in for a treat today.  Are you ready?  Ready to hop around to eighteen different mystery blogs...gathering lots of stylish inspiration as you go along? 

Paper Craft's newest special issue is all about style.  Fun and Cute....Classy and Elegant...Clean and Graphic...Shabby and Vintage.  Can you guess where I fall? 

Oh yeah. 

It's all about shabby, vintage goodies around here.  Most of the time.  But I've discovered that I'm really not your average shabby joe.  I like shabby with a punch.  With bright citrus colors and maybe a crazy mix of patterns.  Cath once told me I was Funky Vintage.  I think it fits.   

I loved working on this issue...I felt like I could really let loose with my style.  Sometimes I feel like I hold back when it comes to my publication work...just a bit...

Maybe it's my fear of writing up instructions for a card with ten layers of patterned paper and eight bazillion embellishments. 

Or that maybe one of the editors will decide that editing my full page supply lists is a bore and they'll say..."Don't accept any more submissions from that Betsy girl!"

But not so with this issue...it was like I had permission to be as shabby and as vintage as I pleased.  To go "all out" so to speak.

I was assigned ten cards.  And you know what?  I made them all in one afternoon.  No kidding.  It just flowed.  Cuz it was my style. 

So here's my card for you today...done in my funky vintage style...pairing the old with the new...shabby with a punch of bold color.

I diecut a vintage pattern for the focal point and paired it with some pretty patterned papers and that gorgeous flower and fabric brad from Pixie Petals Etsy shop that were just waiting for a home.  Special touches like these really give that handmade, vintage feel and can make your projects really unique.  Etsy is a great source for vintage and handmade goodies!
