Flowers, flowers and more flowers....
March Papertrey!

Trendy Tabs...

Vacation-Memories-Album3

First of all, I want to thank you all for the sweet birthday wishes today!  Obviously my Go-to Gal buddies didn't get the memo that my birthday is a secret.  Hmph.  I'm really not even sure where they got ahold of such sensitive information.  But you all made me feel so special and my day was definitely brighter because of you all!  I think I have the best blog readers anywhere!  :-)

But, now for the real reason you stopped by...I know it wasn't to listen to a bunch of birthday babble.  hee.  It's group post day for the Papertrey March countdown!  The design team if featuring an awesome new set called Mini Scrapbook Series: Tabs that is a first in a series by Heather Nichols.  I am so excited to see what she has up her sleeve for this series because this first set is fun

I am excited about my little project tonight!  My photos have been neglected for far too long and it is definitely time to show them a little more love.  So, when Nichole issued the assignments for the new Tab set, I jumped all over the mini album category!  The construction of this album is really fun and I think you'll love to try this for yourself!  I'll show you how in a bit..

The base of the album is constructed entirely out of envelopes.  Papertrey's quality envelopes are perfect for this.  If you use a standard A2 envelope, it is nearly perfect for standard 4 x 6 photos....all you have to do is trim a 1/2" off the length (to 4 x 5 1/2")...then they fit perfectly on the album pages.  You could also make it out of some of Papertrey's smaller envelopes such as the 3 x 3's....wouldn't that make an adorable brag book to keep in your purse?

And here's where those fun new tabs come in!  The way the envelopes are adhered to each other creates pockets in the spine.  Look at those cute little tabs!  There is one for each day of our trip, numbered with the small numbers from the set.  And that fun paper and library card on the front???  That's a peek at this month's new paper!!

Those pockets are perfect for tabbed journaling pages, extra photos, ticket stubs, memorabilia..whatever you want to tuck inside them!

I stamped my own journaling pages using the Journaling Lines set along with the circle frame from Take Note and and numbers from the new Outline Alphabet set.  There is a page for each day of our trip.  Right now I have all of our memories jotted down in a notebook, but I can't wait to transfer it all onto my little album inserts!

I also created little journaling spots using Take Note to label my photos.  Notice the cute little paper clip accent....simple to make... just adhere a button to a colored paper clip with a little glue, then tie some jute through the button holes and around the paper clip to make it extra secure.  fun!

Want to make your own envelope album?  It's so easy.

Apply a row of adhesive to the front side of the flap (the side without the lickable adhesive).

Vacation-Album-Step1

Then fold the flap backwards and tuck it inside another envelope.  As it is shown in the photo below, the adhesive will stick to the inside of the top layer of the envelope you are inserting the flap into.  I hope this makes sense...it's a little hard to expain, but hopefully the photos will help!  If you put your adhesive on the wrong side of the flap, the pockets on the spine of the album will be glued shut...and no, I wouldn't know that from putting my adhesive on the wrong side of a half a pack of envelopes and then adhering all my photos to the pages without double checking first.  no.  I wouldn't have figured it out that way.  really.

Vacation-Album-Step2

Just keep going in that same manner, tucking and adhering the next flap into another envelope until you get the desired number of pages for your album.

When you're finished, trim off the flap from the first envelope.  This is the cover of your album.  Now just adhere your photos and decorate as desired!
