I'm in pieces...
February 12, 2010
Hey there! I'm taking a short break from the Papertrey festivities to issue a little challenge! I know....you NEED another challenge! :-) But, if you have a moment to play along, I would love it!
The March/April issue of Paper Crafts is starting to show up in mailboxes and newstands and this issue I had the privilege of working on the PC 101 column. I focused on lots of different ways to incorporate paper piecing into your projects! It's one of my favorite techniques. You all now how I love to mix colors and patterns, and this technique is perfect for that!
Let me share a few projects with you that I've used paper piecing on...you've already seen the cupcake cards, but I just wanted to give you a few ideas to get that creativity going!
You could paper piece diecuts.....this fun card uses a diecut from the Child's Year Cricut cartrige, which I cut several times from assorted papers and piece back together. This card was on the PC Connection blog this week (did you know Wednesday was Umbrella day???).
Part of the fun, besides all of the patterns and colors that you can mix, is adding all of the fun little details like buttons, trims, etc...to really give your project detail and dimension.
You could paper piece stamps....
You could piece together a background, some punched shapes, create a paper pieced scene, a patchwork heart...or just about anything else that you can think of to cut apart and piece back together again!
Wanna play along? I'd love to see your take on this technique. I'll give you until midnight on Wednesday the 17th....just leave a comment on this post with a link to your project. I'll randomly choose a winner to send some goodies to, including the new Paper Crafts Stamp It! special issue!
