Vintage Picnic Possibilities
June 12, 2009
Hey there! Happy weekend! Ready for some fun? The June Papertrey countdown is underway! I love countdown time!! Today the Design Team is sharing their projects using the new, soon to be released Vintage Picnic and Sentiments sets! Oh, this set is just so fun for summer (and TONS of other occasions...wait til you see!). Inspired by old-fashioned metal lunch pails and picnic baskets, this set has so many possibilities! Nichole and Michelle put their creative heads together and came up with this amazing set, so you know it's gonna be great. :-)
I chose to do a "Just Because" project using the blank basket which has a few different little designs to stamp on the front. I used the strawberries 'cuz...well, I can't resist anything fruity lately! I'll admit, this set took a bit of thought since I'm not much of a colorer, but I hauled out my trusty colored pencils and got to work. I created a boxed set of notecards using one of the hing-top nugget tins.
I used a bright, fun and summery color palette of Spring Rain, Summer Sunrise and Pure Poppy. Very picnic-y don't you think?
Here is the tin opened up...I created a pocket for a set of 4 little notecards.
Here is the pattern that is stamped on the liner of the tin. I used the line stamp from Let Freedom Ring to created the plaid and then filled it with strawberries. I love the vintage feel!
And here's a view of the four little notecards all spread out.
And just one more pic to share with you...the pocket that's adhered inside the tin has a fan-fold to allow room for the chunky little cards. To do this, just cut your paper 2" wider than the inside of the tin and score it twice on each side, 1/2" apart. Fan fold it and adhere it to the cardstock base. This makes a nice, roomy pocket to tuck your cards in.
