Have you jumped on the washi bandwagon yet? I'll admit, I'm a little slow in getting in on this trend, but I think I'm now officially on the bandwagon. Have you ever visited Freckled Fawn? If you're a washi tape freak, you might want to (or maybe not if you have no willpower). They have a wonderful stock of fun washi tapes, fabric tapes, paper doilies and more. Cute, cute stuff. AesaLina, the owner of Freckled Fawn was kind enough to send me a few goodies from her shop. AND, she's offering a couple of gift certificates for you guys! Read on...
So how about a couple of projects to share using some of Freckled Fawn's pretty things...
My first card is all whites and pastels with a *pop* of neon ribbon. Just plain fun. I love that Aqua Airmail Washi tape and have used it a ton already...I'm looking at the roll which seems to be getting smaller much too quickly....gonna have to order some more of that!
The paper doily under the collage of tape and ribbons is SO pretty and also from Freckled Fawn HERE. I recently re-discovered my paper crimper. Do you remember those? Do you still have yours? Pull it out, I dare you. I think it's coming back (or maybe it never left?).
And one more...this one uses the same Airmail Washi, a pretty pink doily, and a manilla tag....all from Freckled Fawn.
The flower sticker is from Crate's Pretty Party as is the "hello" sticker.
Don't forget to leave a comment to win one of the two $10 gift certificates to Freckled Fawn! I'll leave comments open until Sunday night (May 20) at midnight central time!

Hey there! Can you believe it's the 15th of the month once again?!? School is out in just a few days here. Deep breath....not sure I'm ready for summer yet!
I'm here this morning to share the remainder of my Papertrey Ink May release projects with you. I have just three left today that haven't already been shared earlier in the countdown.
First up is a card using Maile's new Happy Hydrangea set. I gave this one to my mom for Mother's Day. I used lots of different shades of blues and purples for the hydrangeas.
That Royal Velvet ink is new this month and it is gorgeous! Such a rich, deep color. I put a bit of paper lace and woodgrain paper along the bottom edge...I think they almost look like they're peeking over a rustic wooden fence. The background was embossed with the new Simple Stripes Impression plate...can't get enough of that one!! I embossed it first, then stamped it because I wanted to give the hydrangeas a more rustic feel and allow the texture of the background to come through.
Next up is a fun and happy card using the new Heart-2-Heart #4 set. I created a fun background by stamping lots of numbers from the Birthdays by the Numbers set and adding some Doodlebug border stickers. I've had these curly borders in my stash for a while and they remind me of a curly-q phone cord, so I though they'd be perfect for this project!
For the focal point, I diecut a circle from my stamped panel using the LL: 2 1/2" circle die. I created a frame from Poppy cardstock by cutting out the pinked edge circle, then cutting the plain circle from the center of it. It's a quick and easy was to create a frame. I added a bit of that curly border sticker to my phone as well! I think the sentiment stamped at an angle adds a bit of fun.
And lastly, a card that uses a combination of lots of new products. The label is from Heather's new Framed Out #4 set, the flower is of course from the new Happy Hydrangea, and the "happy" diecut sentiment is from the Pretty Peonies die collection.
The "happy birthday" that I stamped over top of the diecut is from the new Fillable Frames Sentiments set. I added a vibrant border along the bottom using the new Chevron Stripe Border die.
Well, that wraps up another fun release! I had so much fun creating projects with these new goodies and I hope you had fun following along. Happy shopping to you all tonight!

Welcome to the second group post for the May Papertrey Ink countdown! Today the team is showcasing a new stamp set called Summer Camp, designed by Heather Nichols. It's a great set for all of those outdoorsy photos, masculine cards, gifts and more! The set has some great images and sentiments as well as a couple of label stamps that have coordinating dies. There is also a coordinating pattern paper pack. All of these new goodies will be available for purchase from the Papertrey Ink website on the evening of May 15.
So for our Summer Camp projects today, Nichole challenged each of us to find an image on the web to inspire us. While I was browsing around, I happened across this Eddie Bauer ad that someone had pinned on Pinterest. I loved the dramatic effect of the white letters against the pretty outdoor photos.
I decided to take that inspiration and create a mini album for some of last year's vacation photos. I used the Calendar Page die as the pages for my album and bound them together with my Bind-it All The little tabs work perfectly for holding photos. I chose two photos to use on my cover and used Photoshop to lay them out and print them one directly on top of the other. I took the "take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints sentiment" and stamped it with Versamark directly onto my photo and heat embossed it with white powder. I really wasn't sure if that was going to work...I thought it might melt my photo, but I was careful to keep the heat gun moving. It did curl it a bit, but I adhered it to a piece of cardstock when I was finished and it straightened it right out.
The patterned papers I used here are from the new Summer Camp pad. The label in the lower right corner is from the Summer Camp set and there are coordinating dies as well. I stamped the year using the Library Ledger Year Additions set. The "Colorado" title was cut using the Block Alphabet die set. I also added a bit of background stamping using the corrugated image from My Hero, My Dad.
Here's a peek at the inside. The tabs on the Calendar Page die work perfectly for holding photos. I just printed them out at home at a 2 1/2" width, which fits in the tabs perfectly.
I used lots of sentiments from the set to create the word art borders along the pages. I used the label stamps and dies from the set as places to add a bit of journaling.
One other thing to note, I diecut the pages of my album from chipboard, then covered them with cardstock or patterned paper that was also diecut with the Calendar Page die. The chipboard makes them nice and sturdy.
For my second project today I wanted to create a Father's Day card using the new Summer Camp set. I came across this image on Pinterest and thought it was just plain fun...the colors, the design, everything! So I used it as inspiration for creating my card. (sorry, I couldn't find the original source, try as I might!)
I used the sky and hill stamp from the new On the Farm set (yes, I used it again...I warned you the other day I was slightly addicted to it!!). This time I stamped the sky in Aqua Mist and the hills in Simply Chartreuse. I then used Dark Chocolate ink and stamped the fun mountain scene from the new Summer Camp set over the top. It was the perfect scale to add to the scene! I love it when things like that work out and I can combine sets together in that way.
I really tried to mimic the whole look and feel of the scene in that graphic. I added some clouds using the smaller die from the Clouds Die collection. I trimmed off the bottoms to give them that trendy flat-bottom look I've been seeing a lot of lately. I heat embossed some of the trees with Zing powders, and some of the others I stamped onto cardstock and hand-cut. (pay no attention to the pine tree growing in the lake...ha! Didn't even occur to me until I was writing this post...)
I layered everything with different thicknesses of foam adhesive. The "happy father's day" sentiment is from My Hero, My Dad and the red "DAD" along the bottom was diecut using the Block Alphabet Upper die collection. I embossed the background with the Woodgrain Impression plate and stamped the rustic wood along the side using the new BB: Farm & Barn set.
That's all for my projects today using the new Summer Camp stamp set and coordinating products. Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope your week is off to a great start. You can swing by the other DT gals to see what they've created with these new products!

Welcome to the first group post day for the May Papertrey Ink countdown! Today the team is playing with a new collection of goodies that are all farm-inspired! There's a new stamp set called On the Farm and a whole slew of coordinating products -- a background set called Background Basics: Farm & Barn, a Chicken Wire Impression Plate and a Shape Up Series: Barn Die. So much fun! All of these new products will be available for puchase on the evening of May 15 from the Papertrey Ink website.
I created a couple of projects using just a few of these new goodies. First up is a little set of notecards. I used the sunrise and hill images from the new On the Farm set in the background. For some reason that image reminded me of a vintage fruit carton, so I decided to pull out my Fruit Fusion Apple die and make a set of fruity notecards.
When I thought about how to package them, I decided that the Berry Basket die that was released last month would be really cute. I didn't want a whole basket though, but more of a pocket instead, so I only diecut two Berry Baskets. I trimmed off the entire bottom of one and left just a 1/2" or so on the other to use as a tab to adhere the two together. I made for a cute little pocket! I always love the versatility of the dies and how you can change them up to suit your needs.
The Take Note sentiment is from the new On the Farm set -- I love the font combination. I stamped it on an Angled Label die which was stamped with the coordinating frame stamp from the Label Basics set. The background of the card was embossed with the new Chicken Wire Impression Plate. How fun is that?
For my second project today, I created a simple card. I found this image from Country Living and love how the colorful animals pop against the neutral background.
I decided to let that image inspire my card. Again, I used that sunrise image (becuase I just can't get enough of it!) this time stamped in Fine Linen ink on a white cardstock background. The animals were diecut using the new On the Farm die collection.
To create the debossed effect around the sunrise image, I stamped the sunrise first, then cut a piece of chipboard and place it directly on top of the image before running it through my Vagabond with the Chicken Wire Impression Plate. The same principle as using a die over an impression plate, but this time I had to make do with something else because I didn't have a die the exact size to cover that spot. The chipboard was quick and easy. The checkerboard pattern along the bottom is a fun border strip that's included in the On the Farm set.
Thanks for stopping by the farm today! I hope you enjoyed checking out my projects as much as I enjoyed creating them. Now be sure to hop around to the other team members to see what they've created with the new farm products!

I realize it's been a bit quiet around these parts. Sorry about that. Ahhh... life this time of year is just insane, isn't it? Summer is around the corner and it seems like the schools try to cram as much as they can into these last few weeks, summer activities are starting up, and it's just too darned nice outside to be stuck inside! All of those things add to up a lack of time to tend to this blog of mine! I have some updates on some things..like a recap of my Paper Crafts magazine editorial board meeting a few weeks ago. I have some things to share with you and I just haven't had the time to write out my thoughts! So stay tuned for that. :-)
BUT, speaking of summer fast approaching, warm weather means...flip flops! Today I get to share some fun and colorful cards with you that I created using the new Flipping Out stamp set being released by Papertrey Ink on May 15th. This adorable set was designed by Melissa Bickford and will be available for purchase from the Papertrey Ink website the evening of the 15th. All supplies are noted and linked in the thumbnails at the bottom of this post.
So let's have some fun, shall we? I did a little cruising around on the net, gathering inspiration for my projects today. Let me show you a few things that I found and the projects that were inspired by them. I happened across this sign on Etsy...
I think the quote is adorable and I figured it would be fun to do my own colorful word-art version for a card. I would totally give this to my 8 year old daughter and she would love it. :-)
The "you" is from Simply You, the "flip" is from the Block Alphabet die, the "flop" is from the Script Alphabet die. I just printed the "are the" and "to my" with my computer. And the flip flops are, of course, from the new Flipping Out set. I love all of the cute printed flip flops in the set and the fact that the coordinating dies have all the bits and pieces so you can assemble your own 3D flip flops. SO cute. And notice the stripey embossing in the background? Yup, a new Impression Plate called Simple Stripes. LOVE this one and can see it becoming a staple that I want to use on just about everything.
Up next...don't you just love it when you happen across an image that you know instantly you can replicate in a card? Those projects come together quickly and easily.
Here's my card version of the image above...
It reminds me of kicking of the flip-flops on the dock and diving in the cool blue water. That fun woodgrain paper is from My Mind's Eye. I embossed a piece of Hawaiian Shores cardstock with the Woodgrain Impression plate to mimic the look of rippling water. I embossed the sentiment with Zing embossing powder.
Next up, my favorite card of the day. I didn't have an image to inspire me, but I had these bright colored clothespins from Crate Paper laying on my desk and they were just calling my name. I went for a more nautical feel for this card, using bright blues, reds, and yellows...almost like the flip flops are hanging on the deck of a ship or poolside. The life preserver is from the Out to Sea stamp set.
Again I used the new Simple Stripes Impression plate in the background...almost reminds me of wainscoting. I paired it with a little chevron patterned paper from the Dear Lizzie Neapolitan collection.
And one last project today. I just couldn't resist pairing those cute flip flops with the Movers & Shakers: Spinners dies. I was going for a water/beach effect by using some wave print paper from Fancy Pancts along with some new Fine Linen stripe paper from the Fine Linen pack being released this month.
The fun thing about this card? When you move the flip-flops along the spinner track, you reveal the sentiment. I would love to send this to someone going on a beachy vacation!
I used some Rouge Zing embossing powder to emboss the Hibiscus flowers from the Aloha set down in the lower left corner.
I have just a few how-to shots of how I created the front of this card with the two different patterned papers...
I started with a 4 x 5 1/4" piece of white cardstock. I diecut the wavy track about where I thought I wanted the separation of the sand/water to be. The I cut 4 x 5 1/4" pieces of blue wave paper and the Fine Linen stripe. I placed them under my diecut piece of white cardstock and used that as a guide for placing my die (just set it inside the cut-out) and ran it through my machine so it would cut through my patterned papers in the exact same spot.
Here's what my patterned papers looked like after running them through. I then took a scissors and cut off the top of the Fine Linen strip paper (the part that's above the track).
Then just adhere that over the wave paper. I actually adhered both to the block of white cardstock before adhering the whole thing to my card because I thought it gave the patterned paper a little more stability. Then you can just go ahead and use this piece along with the Spinner Die to complete the card.
So fun! I hope you enjoyed today's colorful projects and let me know if you have any questions! For more inspiration and peeks at the new sets being release, click around the other other gals....Melissa, Heather, Maile, and Nichole!

Happy May Day! I just love May and all of the beautiful weather and fun things it brings! Today, the Papertrey Ink DT is focusing on the Button Bits sets for our monthly challenge. Nichole challenged each of us to choose our favorite Button Bits set and create a project from it. Blooming Button Bits has always held a special place in my heart, and since it's May and I have flowers on the brain, how could I not choose it for my project today?
I created a super electric-bright card, perfect for the sunny month of May. I used some bright yellow paper from Basic Grey for the background, then stamped the flower cluster from Blooming Button Bits across the front using Versamark. I heat embossed the flowers with some Aqua Zing powder. I added in some leaves and embossed those with some Leaf Zing.
The sentiment is stamped on some adorable Air Mail Washi using Palette Noir (becuase the surface of the tape is a little slick, this ink works well). My plan was to top off all of the flowers with white buttons, but at the last minute, decided there needed to be one little zinger, so I topped one flower with a Raspberry Fizz button.
This was a super fun, yet quick card. I love that kind! :-)
Be sure to hop around to the other DT girls to see what projects they've cooked up using their favorite set from the Button Bits series...

I hope you're having a great weekend! I'm popping in today to share the rest of my April Papertrey Ink release projects. I'll make it short and sweet so you can just look at the pretty pictures. All of the supplies are listed/linked at the bottom of this post. All of the new stuff can be purchased tonight at 10 pm Eastern time from Papertrey Ink.
First up, a card using Tagged Sentiments.
I added a ton of random letter stickers to my background and just finished it off with the 2 Sweet Tagged Sentiment stamp and some layered buttons.
Next is Framed Out #3. The Framed Out sets are such fun to play with! I love all of the possibilities. This time I lined them up to create a border.
I included some stars from Super Stars. I masked off the labels with a sticky note as I stamped the stars, then just added some glitter to the centers.
Next is my favorited card of the day using the new Trendy Tree Tops set.
Those trees are just the cutest and I love all of the possibilities with those circles...they will have so many uses besides just tree tops! I layered three of them over some cutie-pie patterned paper from the Simple Stories Fabulous collection. I added some tiny flowers from the Strawberry Patch die collection.
And here's one using the new Baby Face set. How cute are those little babies?
I wrapped my babies up in felt blankets and created twins. This could be done in girl/boy like I did, or girl/girl, boy/boy. For the felt, I stamped the blanket/body onto cardstock and cut it out. I stamped it again onto felt and cut it out, cutting inside the lines, then adhered the felt pieces to the cardstock piece. The "twins" was cut using the new Script Alphabet dies.
And last but not least, a card using the new Heart-2-Heart #3 set.
I stamped them in clusters of four to create flowers. I topped them off with a 3/4" circle punched from patterned paper, a button, and a leaf which I cut using the Sending You die. The background was stamped with the new Background Basics: Postmarks set.
Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out the rest of my projects today! I hope you've enjoyed this month's products and projects! For more inspiration using the new goodies, be sure to pop on by the other DT gals to check out their creations!

It's time for group post day #2 for the April Papertrey Ink countdown. Today the team is featuring some new additions to the Garden Variety line up. This new addition to the previously release Garden Variety set includes the Garden Variety II stamp set which contains a new seed packet frame image and some additional labels and elements that coordinate with the original set. There is also a new Seed Pack Frame die to coordinate with the new frame image. Also being released this month is a new set to coordinate with the Year of Flowers series called Year of Flowers Titles. It's a simple little set that contains titles for each type of flower in the 12 Year of Flowers collection. These titles fit nicely in the seed packet frame.
So, a little more about today's project. Nichole asked us to find an inspiration piece to jumpstart our projects today. I came across these fun garden markers on Etsy. I loved the rustic feel of the stamped letters and I decided to see what I could come up with using some of the new products being released this moth
Using those beautiful markers as my inspriration, I created a gift ensemble that would be perfect for any flower garden lover. The ensemble includes a card, a seed packet which holds a gift card, and some garden markers.
First, a little about the card. I used the new Seed Packet Frame 2 die and the coordinating image from the new Garden Variety II set. The watering can is from the original set, but the flowers filling the can are new! There is a pot image in the new set that coordinates with this flower bunch as well. I added the "mother" sentiment from the Mother stamp set. I give my mom a gift certificate to her favorite nursery almost every year for Mother's Day, so this will be perfect for her!
I used the Seed Packet die to create a coordinating gift card holder. I cut the Seed Packet from patterned paper and added the new frame over a piece of vellum which I stamped "A gift for you" from the Delightful Dahlia set.
For the garden markers, I took some polymer clay out to play around with. These were fun to make and I felt like a kid playing with Play-doh again! I used the flower names from the new Year of Flowers Titles set to make an impression into the clay before baking it. I also added a few decorative elements from the new Garden Variety II set.
Now, I'm definitely not a clay expert by any stretch of the imagination, and I don't have any fancy tools for working with clay besides a basic tool kit, but I'll show you how I made these. I learned a few things along the way and if I do any more of these, it should go a little more smoothly. :-)
I started by rolling out my clay. It can't be too thick, but it shouldn't be too thin either. I would aim for about 1/8" thick...maybe a little more. So that you don't distort it by moving it from one place to another, you can roll it directly onto the surface you plan to bake it on, or you could do it on parchment paper. After it was rolled out evenly, I took the Happy Day Label die and pressed it into the clay.
I used a needle-ended tool from the clay tool kit to "cut" around my die. I think a paper piercer would also work for this part.
Then I peeled away the excess clay.
I pulled the die away and I was left with my clay label which I then "stamped" with my flower names and added a few decorative elements. When impressing the images into the clay, try to do so with even pressure...enough to get a good impression, but not too much pressure that the image becomes distorted.
After I finished the stamping, I baked the clay according to the instructions on the package. I attached my markers to some small wooden dowels. I put a block of floral foam in the bottom of a metal bucket (from the Target Dollar Spot) and trimmed a circle from patterned paper to fit inside my bucket. I just stuck the ends of the dowels through the paper and into the foam.
Well, that' all for today! Thanks so much for stopping by! Before to check out what the other DT gals have put together using this new line up of Garden Variety products.
