Papertrey Ink October Countdown Day 3: Warmer Together, Glorious Globes, Bold Borders, & Words to Live By...
I have so many things to show you for today's Papertrey Ink countdown! We're on Day #3 and there are a lot of things being featured today. You can see all of today's new products in full HERE.
I'm just going to get started with the projects and I'll talk about the new products as we go along...
My first project uses this month's Glorious Globes set paired with this month's Words to Live By set, which features the word "peace". I find myself having a deep yearning for peace lately...the world is in such constant turmoil, which is why I chose it for the October Words to Live By set.
Instead of using the circle elements from the Glorious Globes: October set on the globe bases, I turned them into ornaments. I also incorporated a few of the globes from the Glorious Globes: Basics set. I used the ornament top from the Brilliant Baubles set, het embossed with gold powder onto a background that I had watercolored with blues and greens.
My next card uses a new set I have coming out this month called Warmer Together. If you liked the Brushed Birds set I did earlier this year, this is kind of a wintery version of that same style, this time with an adorable penguin family! I love how they turned out!
Here I stamped 3 of the 4 penguins from the set and paired them with Lizzie's new Bold Borders: Flurries die, which is so beautiful! Before I diecut it from a panel of watercolor paper, I watercolored it in some soft pastel colors.
I layered it over a white card base, that was sponged with some Broken China Distress Ink. I stamped one of the sentiments from the Warmer Together set into the opening of the snowflake frame using Weathervane ink. I added a few sequin snowflakes (from the Fairy Tale Trimmings kit), and also went over the penguins with some Wink of Stella for a little shimmer that didn't show up in the pics, but is so pretty in real life!
Next is another card using Warmer Together. This one uses all four of the penguins from the set, along with the larger heart, also from the set.
I perched them on the In the Meadow hill dies, and cut a background using the new Shape Shifters: Square 3 die to cut the swirls and pierced square. I again used a sentiment from the set and stamped it on the snowy hills.
Next I have two cards that use the new Words To Live By: Peace sentiment set paired with some watercoloring. I love to watercolor trees, so I wanted to play around with a couple of ideas. This first one is the "tame" version, with trees watercolored in shades of blue/green.
When I was finished with the watercoloring, I stenciled over it with the snowflake stencil from the Fairy Tale Christmas stencil set using Texture Paste. I also added some gold splatters. When everything was dry, I felt like it needed a little dimension, so I cut the largest rectangle from the Noted: Simply Stitched die set and nested it back inside, but popped the center up with foam.
The sentiment was of course done with the stamps and dies from the Words to Live By: Peace set. I diecut the "peace" from Ocean Tides cardstock and sponged it with some of the same color ink to add a bit of shading. The rest of the sentiment was stamped using Saffron Spice ink.
Now for my crazy version. :-) I don't know why, but I woke up this morning with this idea to paint rainbow trees. haha. It's bright and fun and kind of crazy.
I didn't want to add a whole lot to the card, but I felt it needed just a little something, so I diecut the largest frame from the Pierced Feature Frames set from vellum and layered it over the top of the watercolored panel.
See what I meant? There was so much to show you today! I hope you enjoyed it all! Having so much fun here creating. :-) We'll see you back here tomorrow. I'll be using the new Window set that I shared in the sneak peeks before the countdown started!
