Papertrey Ink May Countdown Day 2: Out of This World Mini Kit...

Good morning!  It's Day 2 of the Papertrey Ink countdown and I have some fun projects today using a new mini kit that's coming your way this month, called Out of This World!  It's so fun for guys, boys, and more.  I'm always drawn to outer space themed things, so I love the possibilities with this.

The kit features stamps, dies, stencils, and patterned papers.  This new kit will be available to purchase from Papertrey Ink beginning at 10pm ET on May 15th.  It has everything you need for lots of projects...just add ink and cardstock!

Let me show you just a few projects I created with this kit - more coming throughout the countdown.  First up is a card that was super simple to put together.  It uses several of the pre-printed diecuttable papers from the kit, which make for such quick and easy projects.

I snipped the diecut "world" apart so that I could replace the "o" with one of the planets.  I created a fun clustered focal point using the sentiment, planet, orbit, and rocket.

The rest of the sentiment was stamped onto strips of linen cardstock, trimmed, and sponged with Tropical Teal ink.  The whole grouping was adhered to one of the patterned papers from the kit, trimmed down slightly and attached to a Tropical Teal card base.  I also added a few scattered clear sequins for a bit of sparkle.

My next project mixes one of the patterned papers with a coordinating 2-step stencil found in the kit.  The patterned paper has a large white area which can be stenciled with the planet in any colors you choose.  Step one of the stencil fills in the large open circle, and step 2 adds the detail.  I sponged my first stencil with Orange Zest, and the second step with Pure Poppy.

These stencils work with the patterned papers from the kit, but you can of course use them on just a plain cardstock panel as well, and do your own thing.  The sentiment I used here is a combination of stamps and dies from the kit.

Above the stenciled planet, I added a few diecut and stamped rockets and star accents.  When I was finished, I trimmed the panel down slightly and added a strip of Tropical Teal striped paper down the side (not found in the kit).

My last project for today changes up the colors a bit, which I think gives it more of a girly look.  I started out with the starburst stencil from the kit and embossed a panel of white cardstock by running it through my diecut machine with an embossing mat.  After it was embossed, I sponged it with shades of orange, pink, and purple inks to bring out the embossed design.

I also stenciled the orbit in the area where I wanted to stamp the sentiment.  The sentiment was stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with white powder over top of this stenciled orbit.

Then I arranged several diecut planets around the sentiment.  Some are from the printed diecuttables, and some are stamped.  I added in some stars and clear sequins too.  I love the colors of this one!  I was thinking I'd like to try this design again, but with planets done in a rainbow of colors.  Wouldn't that be fun?
