Papertrey Ink March Release Day 3...
Introducing the Bloom & Grow Make It Market Mini Kit...

Papertrey Ink Feature: Nesting & Woodgrain Metal Stencil...

Happy Monday!  We're making our way through the Papertrey Ink March countdown!  You might have noticed we're changing things up a bit around here - we're doing countdown posts a bit differently, and Nichole has had lots of fun changes to the product presentations on her blog as well!  If you haven't yet, be sure to stop over and check it out!

Today is my turn for what's called a "Product Feature" post.  I get to show you several new products I designed for this month's release.  Here's a quick overview of what I'll be showing today...

  • Nesting Stamp set and coordinating dies:  This $24 set features a pretty nest, sweet birds, branches, eggs, and lots of coordinating sentiments.  There are matching dies, of course!
  • Cover Plate: Nesting die:  A cover plate that cuts a frame and some pretty branches.  There are also tons of small flower and leaf dies included, allowing you to embellish the branches, or use on their own on other projects.  The nest from the Nesting stamp set fits perfectly on the branches, but you can get really creative with other things to nestle in or hang from those branches!
  • Woodgrain metal stencil:  This is a new product concept for it an embossing plate or a stencil?  Well, it's both!  It's a lightweight metal stencil that when run through you diecutting machine with the Papertrey embossing mats (same sandwich you use with the Impression Plates), leaves a beautiful impression.  So many fun technique options!

All of these new products will be available for purchase beginning at 10pm ET from the Papertrey Ink website.

Now let me show you some projects using these new products!  My first card uses the Nesting stamp set and dies, along with the Nesting Cover Plate.  I started off with a panel of linen cardstock and inked it with shades of blue and gray - Aqua Mist, Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, Enchanted Evening, Smokey Shadow, and Soft Stone.  Then I spritzed it lightly with water.  Once it was dry, I stamped some leafy branches onto the background in matching ink colors using the Gathered Garden stamp set.

The Cover Plate: Nesting die was cut from white cardstock and layered over the top.  The nest was stamped with Soft Stone and a bit of Smokey Shadow ink.  I placed a few eggs from the set inside the nest.  The birds were stamped with Terracotta Tile and Pure Poppy inks.

The sentiment is also from the Nesting set and is probably my favorite from the set.  The "Go ahead" is separate from the rest, giving you a bit more versatility for using it for different occasions.  Using just the "I'll be here when you need to rest your wings" would be perfect for someone going through a difficult time.  I embellished the branches with a few of the small flower diecuts from the Nesting Cover Plate die.  They were cut from watercolor paper and colored with reinkers.

My next project is a sweet baby card.  I cut the Nesting Cover Plate from watercolor paper and watercolored it with reinkers.   I layered it over a white cardstock panel that was embossed with the new Woodgrain metal stencil.  I embellished the branches with some leaf diecuts, included in the Nesting Cover Plate die.

The nest is filled with the birds from the set and an egg.  I added the separate leafy vine around the nest.  You can either layer the diecut over the top of the nest, or stamp the leaves directly onto the nest.

The sentiment is also from the Nesting stamp set.

My next project has a more masculine feel.  I started with a panel of kraft cardstock and stamped several branches using the Nesting set and Smokey Shadow ink.  I added a few leaves to the branches using the small leaves in the set.

Then I embossed it with the Woodgrain metal stencil.  I also inked over the stencil a bit along the bottom with some Classic Kraft ink.

I added a couple of the birds from the set, stamped with Soft Stone and Smokey Shadow ink.  The sentiment I used here is from the older Stylish Sentiments: Birthday set, a favorite of mine!  This would make a great card for a guy, and I love the deep impression that the metal stencil gives!
