Good morning and...it's Friday! yay!! I have a fun post for you today. In case you missed it, this year’s big holiday Make It Market kit was released last week, called All Through the House. I had so much fun creating all sorts of holiday projects using the kit, but the whole time I was creating, my mind was wandering to all of the other year-round applications for many of the elements in the kit. So this week, I was excited to pull my kit out again and just play around with a few of the possibilities of pairing the kit elements with everyday items from my Papertrey collection. This is one of my favorite things to do — it really opens up so many more possibilities!
I think this kit, in particular, lends itself to other seasons and occasions...there are lots of great basics! Let me show you a few of the things I came up with...
First off, I couldn't wait to place the large house in a fall setting. The Mighty Oak Cover Plate die was perfect for this.
I diecut the Mighty Oak Cover Plate from linen cardstock and sponged ink on the trunk and leaves, then set them back in the diecut, which I also sponged with Spring Rain and Blueberry Sky inks. I stamped the house in Dark Chocolate, Terracotta Tile, and Canyon Clay inks. I diecut the window openings, and backed them with vellum. The little pumpkins from the Tag Its #7 set are the perfect size. A sentiment from that same set was stamped on the green hill cut using the In the Meadow dies.
Next is another card using the large house image, but this time I paired it with the In the Woods Cover Plate...I love how perfect they are together! I sponged some Aqua Mist ink on a solid panel of linen cardstock and layered it under the cover plate diecut. The leaves on the diecut were colored with a pale green Copic.
The house was stamped with Harvest Gold, Classic Kraft, and Soft Stone ink. The sentiment is from the Tinsel & Tags House Additions stamp set. The cardinal from the All Through the House kit makes a pretty good bluejay when stamped with Blueberry Sky ink. I perched him on top of the lamp post, which was stamped and diecut from the kit.
Next I have a Thanksgiving card using the fireplace and fancy rectangle tag die from the kit, paired with images from the Autumn Adornments set. Thanksgiving is such a warm and cozy holiday to me, and I thought the fireplace would be pretty all decked out for fall.
The fireplace was diecut and stamped with Kraft cardstock and Classic Kraft ink. I stamped the small pumpkins from Autumn Adornments, added stems using a green Copic marker and cut them out by hand (how do we not have dies for this gorgeous set?!?). I also stamped a few leaves around the pumpkins, the pretty sentiment, and the large leaf swag, all of which are from Autumn Adornments. The background was stamped with BB: Herringbone using Terracotta Tile ink on Canyon Clay cardstock. The strip of patterned paper along the bottom is from the Twig Wreath pad.
Switching gears a little with this next project. The matchboxes are a great basic...useful for so many different things. Here I used them to create some birthday treats or favors. I diecut a birthday-ish shape from the wrap on each one, and covered it with acetate to show the treat inside. You could do something similar for just about any occasion or holiday.
This one has a balloon cut from Birthday Style, with a string from the Balloon Strings die collection. The "party" is from the Party Trio die collection.
This one has a cupcake from the Hello There set.
And this one just has some simple stars from the Seeing Stars die collection. The sentiments on all three are from the Hooray stamp set.
Well, I hope you enjoyed this little diversion from the holiday projects. The original stock of the All Through the House kit sold out, but it is still currently open for Pre-Orders HERE is you haven't snagged one yet!
We'll see you back here tomorrow when we kick off the October countdown!
