Hello October. It's the first of the month and that means it's Sr Team challenge time once again for Papertrey Ink. This month we are again revisiting an older set, this time Peace Be Still. This set is a great classic holiday set and I've pulled it out many times, but I was happy to pull it out again for today's challenge.
Nichole challenged us to create a card and gift tag. I'm loving metallics lately, so I decided to play around with that for my projects today.
For my card, I combined the "be still" sentiment from Peace Be Still with the new One Liner Peace die. I always love how new life can be breathed into your supplies when you mix new and old together. I started out playing around with a chalkboard effect by heat embossing the snowflakes with white powder on Smokey Shadow cardstock, but decided I wanted a softer look. So I layered a piece of Vellum Cardstock over the Smokey Shadow panel. It gave it a soft, pretty look. I heat embossed the dove with gold embossing powder. Everything is adhered to a Gold Shimmer card base.
My give tag uses the same vellum overlay. I used the Tag Sale #7 die, which was perfect for this. I cut the tag base from Gold Shimmer, the corner/background piece from Smokey Shadow, and the top panel from vellum. And how about the box? This might just be the easiest form of gift wrap ever. I simply took a kraft box and sprayed it with a can of gold spray paint. It literally took me a few seconds...wouldn't a bunch of them look so pretty under a tree? Kraft boxes can be purchased on-line pretty reasonably and are perfect for wrapping small gifts...the gold spray makes it feel very elegant!
