It's group post day #1 for the September Papertrey Ink countdown! Today the team is featuring a fun new set called Santa Stationery...and it is just what its name implies. A wonderfully whimsical set for creating all sorts of stationery...including letters to Santa, letters from Santa, nice list declarations, and just about anything else your mind can dream up! This new stamp set will be available as of 10 pm eastern time on September 15, 2012 on the Papertrey Ink website.
Nichole challenged each of us to create two projects using this new set. My first project is a Letter to Santa stationery set.
I incorporated images from the new Santa Stationery set, as well as images from the Postmarks set to create a notebook full of fun features that any child would love to fill with their holiday wish lists!
I used my Photoshop program to create some lined pages that I could simply print onto regular printer paper and embellish with images from the set. I left a blank area down in the lower right corner where I could stamp the naughty/nice checklist image. I stamped a frame from Label Basics around it. If you'd like to create something similar, I am making my file available for you to print. You can download the pdf HERE.
I used the perforating blade on my trimmer to perforate the top edge of each page, just below the binding...that way the pages can be easily torn out and will have a nice, neat edge...wouldn't want to send Santa a messy letter!
I created a pocket in the back cover of the notebook to hold all of the essentials needed for getting the letters on their way to Santa!
There are stamps, envelopes, and "address labels". The santa postage stamp image from the set coordinates perfectly with the Postage Stamp die. The striped label coordinates with a die from the Fabulous Frames die collection. I put adhesive on the backside of the diecuts and just adhered them to acetate sheets (I used the sheets that the stamps come on). That way they can easilly be peeled off the acetate by little hands and attached to the envelopes
For my second project, I created a card using some of the images from the Santa Stationery set. The "Merry Christmas" sentiment is from Stylish Sentiments: Holiday -- a set that was released last year. The "from the desk of Santa Claus" is from this new set.
The santa image is stamped in Kraft ink in the background. I added the official "north pole seal" which was embossed with gold powder on Scarlet Jewel cardstock and punched out with a 1" circle punch. The holly leaves are from Holiday Button Bits...SO excited to have the coordinating dies released this month!! Do you know how many times I've cut out those holly leaves?!? No more! Yay!
I hope you enjoyed today's peek at the new Santa Stationery set! To see more projects using this set, be sure to hop around to the other girls! We'll see you back here again tomorrow! *wink*
