Hello, Sunshine! So many of us have been waiting for a Papertrey set dedicated to sunrays and sunshine and this month our wish has been granted! The Hello Sunshine stamp set and coordinating Sunrise Impression Plate will be available for purchase on the 15th of this month from Papertrey Ink!
For our projects today, Nichole challenged us to find an inspiration piece. I landed upon this adorable print by LittlePinkDesigns on Etsy...
To Make a Rainbow print from Etsy.com
I was inspired by the tone-on-tone sunrays in the background and the vibrant lettering. For my card, I stamped the solid sunray image from the new Hello Sunshine set in Fine Linen ink onto a Vintage Cream background. To create the multi-colored sentiment, I did a little creative masking with scotch tape to alter the sentiment. The sentiment is one unit and actually has a smaller "sunshine" word which I also masked off so I could use the larger "sunshine" script word in the set.
Surrounding my sentiment is a cluster of stamped flowers (from Beautiful Blooms II) and some diecut hexagons from the new Cover Plate: Hexagon die. It just feels fun and happy. :-)
For my second card, Nichole challenged us to use the coordinating Sunrise Impression plate as the focus of our card. I impressed a piece of Vintage Cream cardstock and ran my brayer filled with Harvest Gold ink over the top to highlight the sunrays. I then took several pieces of Pattern Pack papers and impressed them with the Sunrise Impression Plate as well. I cut them apart and used the embossed lines as my guide to paper-piece the background.
I've seen lots of cards with this effect lately and I always find it difficult to achieve...I never seem to get the right angle on my sunrays...this paper-pieced method makes it super easy. The sentiment tag is from Tagged Sentiments. I added some diecut clouds as well -- I trimmed the bottoms because I'm kind of digging the whole flat-bottomed cloud trend right now!
That's all from me...thanks so much for stopping by for a little bit of sunshine today! Hop around to the other girls to see what they've created with these new products as well!

Gorgeous, Betsy! I always save your post for last so I can savor it. I really like how you used multiple ink colors on your sentiment. That's a great idea. Using scotch tape to mask off is such an easy way to do that, too. These sunshine products are making me so excited. Thanks for the inspiration.

Absolutely awesome. You ALWAYS come up with fun, bright, cheery designs (though it's hard not to with these rays of sunshine!) I absolutely LOVE what you've done here -- the paper piecing on the second card -- the scattered 'confetti' on the first...luuuuvvvvvv ♥♥♥♥ thanks for sharing :)

I love your cards! They are so fun and cheering. I just love the way you combined the flowers and hexagons on the one card!!

So Happy! I love happy cards and your work with bright colors is fantastic! I like both cards very much, but I am struck by the simplicity and complexity all at once of the first card. The use of the pale background and the bright flowers, the simplicity of the flower stamp you chose and then the added dimension and geometry of the hexagons -- pure genius in my book!

I love the colors you chose for this.
