Hello there! It's been a bit quiet around here. Sorry about that. I've been getting back into the groove of things after our holiday break, most of which I spent down and out with a massive sinus infection! Argh! But this week is about the get a whole lot busier around here!
I'm here this morning to kick off the January Papertrey Ink release festivities. Today I get to help introduce several new products. My projects today will focus on two of the new sets being released on the 15th of this month, along with a whole bunch of other things I'm sneaking in my post today. :-)
The first set I'm playing with today is called Lace Bouquet. The gorgeous lace images in this set are reproductions of vintage lace. It's so pretty and I'm just loving all the gorgeous detail! The set contains one large lace bouquet, along several individual flowers of varying sizes. Perfect for focal points as well as backgrounds!
The other set I used for today's post is the next in the Think Big Favorites family. Think Big Favorites #12 is a set of three super-sized birthday sentiments from various sets. I can see this one getting a ton of use over here. I love all of the Think Big sets, but an all birthday set is an instant winner in my book!
All of the new products will be available, beginning at 10pm EST on the 15th of Janurary. from the Papertrey Ink website. A complete list of supplies can be found at the bottom of my post.
So, how about some projects? I'm sharing my favorite for the day first. This one uses both Lace Bouquet and Think Big Favorites #12. I stamped the large lace bouquet first in the background, then stamped it again and embossed it for the top layer. I just love the way it turned out!
And I'm loving the big Birthday sentiment -- the original, smaller version of this sentiment is from Just the Ticket. Notice that adorable "Handmade" label below the birthday sentiment? That's from a new set as well, called Handmade Hodgepodge, which I'm sure Nichole will be telling you more about as the week goes along! Behind my stamped panel is also some new text patterned paper!
I took some step-by-step shots as I created this card. This first step shows the bouquet stamped first onto Vintage Cream cardstock using Hibiscus ink. I stamped it on the left side, allowing it to extend off the edge of my cardstock.
Next I stamped the sentiments. Happy Birthday was done in True Black and the Handmade label was done with Dark Chocolate.
I used my heat gun for just a bit to make sure my first layer of ink was dry, then I went back and stamped the large lace bouquet again, over top of the first image and also in the lower right corner using Versamark ink. I then embossed it with white embossing powder. I inked my edges a bit using my ink blending tool and some Tea Dye Distress ink. Of course those white embossed images resisted the Distress Ink and made them pop out oh so nicely!
Next up is another card using Lace Bouquet. This time I treated it more as a background element. I stamped it using Fresh Snow ink onto Autumn Rose cardstock. I then cut a window using Mat Stack 5. Notice the cut-outs at the top and bottom as well? Those are from one of the things I'm most excited about this release....dies to match Fancy Flourishes! Woohooo!
On the background panel, I stamped the large lace bouquet again, this time using Smokey Shadow ink onto Vintage Cream cardstock. The birthday sentiment inside the cut-out is once again from Think Big Favorites #12. I tied some Soft Stone grosgrain around the cut out and finished off the top with a Soft Stone button backed with a flower cut from Smokey Shadow felt using one of the Beautiful Blooms dies.
Next up is a very bold and striking card, a little out of my normal color rut comfort zone. I inked up that gorgeous big lace bouquet with Hawaiian Shores ink and rolled the edges in a bit of Enchanted Evening and Peeled Paint (Ranger Distress ink). I stamped it onto Vintage Cream cardstock.
After I had the bouquet stamped, I used another new product being released this month, the Lace Impressions impression die, which you'll hear more about from Nichole! After running it through my diecut machine, I inked my edges with some Aqua Mist and Peeled Paint inks. The sentiment was stamped onto a Happy Day label, which I turned on its side. The "Live by faith..." sentiment from Beautiful Blessings was a perfect fit for my vertical label. Some vintage gems finish it off.
And last but not least, a bright and fresh card. This set definitely doesn't have to just go vintage...it can be bright and fun as well. Here I used some of the individual blooms instead of the large bouqeut. I stamped them in bright colors and layered the largest flourish from Fancy Flourishes, which I diecut with the new coordinating die....LOVE those dies SO much!
Down the side of the card I lined up some patternd paper scraps and finished off the bottom with a Rickrack Border diecut. That pretty sentiment is new this month as well and it's from a new set called Script Sentiments. It's so pretty too!
Well, that's all from me today. Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to visit the other team members who will be peeking new stuff today...

What wonderful projects Betsy! I'd be willing to have a sinus infection if I knew I could create like you! Seriously, the lg. bouquet in Hibiscus & embossing pwdr is so beautiful, like the look of Fresh Snow on Autumn Rose, the use of the new FF die over stamped flwrs is striking, & I so love the Beautiful Blessings card (my fav). I believe there are those of us who would buy just about anything you create with!!!!

Beautiful projects, Betsy. I'd like to try the technique you showed in your first card - embossing over a stamped image. It gives such a neat and layered image without lots of bulk. And I'm really excited, too, to hear about dies for Fancy Flourishes!! Yea!!

Wow, every one of these cards is simply gorgeous! I'm sure I'm going to now be tempted by the Fancy Flourishes set (which I don't already have) because there are dies to match now too! My only concern about that is that it may be very difficult to line up the stamp with the die cut...do you cut first, then stamp or vice versa? Thanks! As always, your work is so inspiring.
