June. I can hardly believe it. The kids are out of school and today marked the start of the summer madness. But, it's the first of the month, and that means it's Papertrey Ink Senior Team challenge time!
This month we are once again showcasing an older set in the Papertrey line-up. Scattered Showers and it's companion Scattered Showers Additions....both designed by Dawn McVey.
As I was stamping away on some scrap paper brainstorming my project today, suddenly, out from the midst of the umbrellas popped a hot air balloon! Crazy, huh? So I ran with it and today instead of umbrellas, I present to you a hot air balloon. Just by stamping two umbrellas facing eachother, and a little bit of simple masking to create the design between the two. I'll show you how in a bit.
I created the balloon strings just by stitching with some black embroidery floss and the basket is a scrap of Kraft cardstock.
I decided to go vintage, shabby and girly, then glitzed it up a bit with some gems and glittered buttons.
Here's a quick step-out of the masking if you'd like to make one of your own.
Start by stamping two umbrellas facing eachother with about a 3/4" gap in between...
Now create 2 masks for the umbrellas using Post-its and place them over the balloons...
Also place two more Post-its along the sides of the umbrellas...
Now stamp in between the two umbrellas. I used Background Basics: Tin Types
Remove the masks and voila! The top of a hot air balloon!
I hope you enjoyed today's post! Stop by the other Senior Team members to see their new spin on the classic Scattered Showers sets.

It does look vintage and shabby - not words I would generally associate with Papertrey Ink, it is also cute and clever. Thanks for the inspiration.

Betsy your creativity always amazes me and one of the other things I love about your work is how cheerful and colourful it is. This card may be a departure from the bright colours but the creativity is absolute genius!!

What a creative idea...that's why I love your blog, you think of the most unique things!!! Excited to the start of another month of Papertrey...even have my sister addicted to it now, too...so much so that she bought everything on "my" list last month that I didn't get...sigh!!!

Who knew? What a great idea. The only problem is now I have to add this set to my already long list of Papertrey must haves. Since I'm not the kind of person who can thinks out of the box, I am in awe of those who can. Thanks for sharing.
