Introducing Grunge Me and My Hero, My Dad

Post-header
Welcome to day one of the April Papertrey Ink countdown!  Today I get to help introduce two new sets, both by Tiffany Pastor. Both will be available for purchase from the Papertrey Ink website on the 15th of April.

The first set is called My Hero, My Dad and it's filled with great sentiments for Father's Day and beyond!  Besides all of the great sentiments, there are some really fun background elements as well.

The second set is called Grunge Me and I have had so much fun playing with all of the possibilities this set holds!  There are a few sentiments, but the main focus of the set is an assortment of fun decorative elements, all with a very fun and trendy grunge look.

So let's get to the projects!  First up is a classic-looking Father's Day card using My Hero, My Dad.  I used a new-to-me color combo of Kraft, Pinefeather, Ripe Avocado, and Aqua Mist...I just love the masculine feel of these colors together!

Leaf-Dad

One of my favorite elements of this set is a background texture stamp that resemble the look of corrugated cardboard....love it!  Also note where I used a whole bunch of the sentiments to create a background.  This was very simple to do...I placed them all on a single clear block and stamped it multiple times to fill up portions of the background.

Here is a quick shot of what my block looked like with all of the sentiments ready to be stamped...

For my next card, I went in a little different direction with the set.  I paired it with Star Prints and created a card that would be perfect for anyone serving in the armed forces...

My-Hero

Here I used the fun square elements from the set to create a background design.  I added little bits of stitching for evern more texture.  It's a fairly simple one-layer card that's still  interesting and textured!

Next up, I have a few cards using the new Grunge Me set.  If you love experimenting with building your own backgrounds and designs, you will LOVE playing with this set.  There are just SO many possibilities!

My first card takes inspiration from the graphic polos like this one from Old Navy that are popping up everywhere.  My son has a few of these and I just think they're so fun!

Shrit

I attempted to replicate the look by combining the new Grunge me set with the By the Numbers dies and the card from Enjoy the Ride.  You can change up the numbers to suit the birthday boy's age...

16th-Birthday

All of the elements in the Grunge Me set work so well for this look!  One other thing to note...I was able to give the car from Enjoy the Ride a distressed look by kissing it with the splatter stamp from Grunge Me.  You could do this with any solid image stamp to grunge it up a bit!

If you're not familiar with the kissing technique, it's very simple.  Just ink up the stamp you want to use (in this case the car), then before stamping it onto your paper, stamp it onto another un-inked stamp (in this case the splatter image from Grunge Me).  The uninked stamp will "pull" some of the ink off of your stamp to reveal the texture.

Kissing

Ok...one last project!  Our main focus at Papertrey Ink this month is the men in our life, but I couldn't do a whole post without throwing in at least a little pink!  Here is another card I made using Grunge Me....this set is definitely not just for boys!  If you look around at girls' fashion, you'll see plenty of the grunge look too...just with lots more fun color!  My 7 year old daughter loves this look.  So for this card, I went with a much brighter color pallette...

To get the spectrum look I used the rock 'n roll technique...the bottom images were rolled in both Raspberry Fizz and Summer Sunrise.  I rolled the grungy circles on top in Hawaiian Shores and Simply Chartreuse inks.  I love how fun it turned out!

Well, that's all I have for you today, but you can stop by Nichole and Tiffany to see more peeks of these two sets.  You can also stop by Lisa, Beth, Maile, Heather and Melissa who will all be peeking sets they are releasing this month!
