It's time to share this month's Papertrey projects! What a fun release this has been...but isn't it every month? :-)
Here are the rest of my projects using this month's sets...
This first card uses the new Distressed Stripes to create fun plaid background! It was so easy and you could make this in SO many different color combos and styles using all of the different widths and styles of stripes. When I first saw the preview of the set, I thought it was a solid stamp...that all of the stripes were connected, so I was surprised when it came and they were all seperate...but what fun!! Endless possibilities with this set!
I also used the new Outline Alphabet set to stamp on some of the black felt with Fresh Snow ink...it reminded me of writing on a blackboard...so of course I just had to make a teacher card! These would be great appreciation cards for the upcoming Teacher Appreciation week, which is the first week in May. We can't forget all of those wonderful teachers who so faithfully instruct our children!
Next up is a project that I had so much fun with. Lots of you were commenting on the Papertrey forum that these little houses reminded you of Dr. Suess images...they reminded me of little folk art images and I decided to go that route with my project....stamping again with Fresh Snow ink on the black felt, then adding paper pieced houses and lots of hand stitching. I then spritzed everything with some Glimmer Mist to really distress it out.
They remind of those little felt penny rugs, don't ya think?
And then the daffodils...I know many of you were disappointed that this set is being delayed a bit. It is so pretty and will be worth the wait! I did a sort of collage look by stamping the large daffodil first, then I masked it off and filled in the rest of the backgrond with assorted background stamps and sentiments from the set.
The daffodil is colored with a white gel pen and Copics.
Springtime doodles is such a fun set! So cheery and happy! I went with a little messy with my Copics, just staying with the doodley feel...then topped off the butterflies with some glitter.
I think the rows of diecut rickrack topped with buttons adds a fun border...
And I saved my very favorite from the release for last. I loved the way this one turned out....I topped those pretty dahlias with some vellum diecuts using the new Beautiful Blooms II flower dies....I love the way it adds lots of froo-froo and really gives the illusion of petals.
Believe it or not, this card started out very simple...I was going to simply use the new Giga Guidelines impression plate (the jumbo single medallion) and top it with one of the large dahlia flowers, add a little border and a sentiment....but it just kept growing and me...and took on a life of it's own. I think I am eternally "simple" challenged. Try as I might. :-)
Well, I think that wraps up this release!! I hope you all had fun despite the forum troubles! Thank goodness for Facebook! :-)
And here's a little heads up for you...there's a new challenge blog launching called The Shabby Tea Room. Each week, Debbie will bring you an inspiring photo and challenge you to create a card using the photo. She so graciously asked me to be her very first guest designer. Go check it out! Her first photo is up and it's beauty. I know the gals over there would love it if you could play along. :-)
'night!

Betsy, these projects are awe inspiring. I love the ABC card. You are totally correct, the Wonderfully Whimsical projects do look like penny rugs - very folk arty - and the Delightful Dahlia card is gorgeous (as are the Springtime Doodles and Daffodil cards). Thanks for the great projects.

I think this is my favorite release display of yours yet!! So, so, so SWEET! The dahlias are colored to perfection and the vellum adds so much. Love the stitching around the black felt! Lots of "teacher" ideas with that black felt, huh? Your "Shabby Tea Room" card is perfect! Thanks for that link! Have a great day!

Love the Dahlia card! What a great idea to use the flower dies and add to the center of the stamped image like that. And the coloring is so pretty. I like how you made the flowers more white towards the edges. Gives them a delicate feel. Thank you for sharing.

Betsy, your cards are beautiful and inspiring! As I scrolled down, I kept saying to myself, This is the best one. Turns out they all are! I truly can't pick a favorite because each is unique. I love the little houses stamped on the black felt and then paper pieced. And mixing the die cut flowers on top of each other is a fabulous idea.
