Sweet as cherries...

I hope you're having a day filled with sweetness.  We've got more sickies here, so not sure it's real sweet, but hopefully soon the little chickies will be feeling better.  :-(

Well, I should be working on my July Papertrey projects.....oh, SO much fun stuff again this month, but guess what.  I got distracted.  I had all these pretty little bits and pieces on my table and they were just calling to me to create some little treats with them.  More cherries....I KNOW!  Help!  I created a sweet little card bundle that just went up in my Etsy shop....

I'm going to be short and SWEET today...my sick chicks are snoozing, so I'd better get some things accomplished before they wake up.  Take care!

Summer sniffles....

Been busy goofing off around here...hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend.  We had a quiet weekend, but did get to spend some time with friends, grill some good food and watch some fireworks, so it was all good.  Now we are home bound for a few days.  I've got a little one with a nasty summer cold, ear infection and sinus infection, so no pool or lake or anything like that for a while. :-(  Poor thing.  Nothing worse than the sniffles in the summer.

Not a lot new right now, but I'm busy working on some things, so there will be more soon.  But, I'm excited to be able to play along with the CPS gals for a few months as their guest, so I do have a card to share with you today based on sketch #123.  Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps was our sponsor this week with some really cute stamps.  So fun!  Here is my take on the sketch...

Scent of the sun...

Don't you just love that smell...the sun...it has it's own magical smell.  Soaked into the beach towels hanging on the deck, into the sheets on the clothesline, in my kids' sunkissed cheeks after a day of play.  There is no other smell like it, it's just....summer.  We're loving it here and I hope you are too...

Just a few fun things tonight!  Thank you all so much for your sweet comments on the blog hop.  I love it that you like to come visit me here.  Random.org chose commenter #208 as the winner of the Card Creations 7 issue..which was...Kathy Manning!

What a cute card

Kathy - e-mail me with your address (link on the left) and I'll get your address info passed on to the gals at Paper Crafts and they'll get your free issue to you!  Enjoy!

Next is a little info...I had quite a few of you ask about how I did the embossing on my blog hop card.  I just used one of the little square embossers from Cuttlebug.  This one right here:

Nothing fancy with my regular Swiss Dot A2 embosser, just that fun little square dot border on the top left.  :-)

And now, just some fun cards.  I mentioned a few posts back that I love Cosmo Cricket, well, I took out my goodies today... some new, some old and just played around for a bit.  These papers are so my style...bright, colorful and just a touch of vintage.  :-)

A sweet baby card..

Wonderful, Beautiful Card Creations....

Have you been following all the fun over on the Paper Crafts Connection and Moxie Fab World blogs?  Those Paper Crafts chickies have been partying all week long, in celebration of the release of Card Creations Vol 7!  That pretty cover deserves a party all to itself, don't ya think?

CC7-Cover

I got my copy the other day and literally sat right down on the floor and poured over every page!  So, sooooo much card making goodness on every page.  Today I get to share one of my cards from this issue, along with a chance for you to win a copy and a chance to win one of 10 fabulous prize packages!  Fun stuff.

Frist the card....then some contest details.  :-)

This was probably my favorite of the cards I had in this issue.  First, because I love the Heart Prints stamp set from Papertrey Ink, and secondly, because I love the colors and those American Crafts papers.  The Papertrey inks match those papers perfectly!  Love it when that happens! :-)

 XOXO Hearts_Betsy

To give those heart stamps a little twist, I created a simple mask using scrap paper and a square punch.  I placed the mask over my squares of cardstock and stamped my hearts at an angle.  I love the way it gives them a totally fun, different and happy look.  I then ran them through my Cuttlebug to get that cute little dotted border.  Some jute and a simple button and diecut tag give just the right finishing touches without over-powering the fun heart images.

XOXO-Card-detail

OK!  Contest details!!!  Leave a comment right here (about anything or everything...whatever's on your mind!!) to be entered in the drawing. Then visit Moxie Fab World and Paper Crafts Connection and the 14 other blogs that are playing along!  The more blogs you comment on, the greater your chance at winning!  Each blogger also gets to share a card, so you'll get tons of inspiration while you're hopping around the web.  There are 15 issues of CC7 and 10 fabulous prize packages up for grabs.  Here are the other bloggers...

It's not a diving board...

it's a runway.  My little girl made her first arm floatie-less jump off the diving board last night and we giggled away as we watched her walk (strut) to the end and hop right off.  She came up beaming and grinning from ear to ear while Mom and Dad held their breath a bit.  :-)  We have three little fishies on our hands and they can't get enough of the water.  We got home from the pool and they jumped into their little two-ring blow-up pool and picked right up where they left off.  I remember doing the same thing as a kid.  I remember spending nearly ever afternoon at the pool with my friends.  It's fun to see my children now enjoying the same things.  :-)

A few cards today...I'm finding it more difficult to squeeze in my creating time as the kids clamor to go here and there and do this and that.  I can't refuse...it's summer.  But, I did tell them we were going to have a quiet afternoon at home today and Daddy promised to take them to the pool tonight.  He's been enjoying it as much as they do after a hot day at work.

First is just a fun, shabby baby card.  The base of the card is some vintage stationery I picked up at a yard sale last summer.  It has the prettiest matching envelopes and I've been having fun creating with it!  A My Mind's Eye diecut, some Fancy Pants chipboard, Papertrey Sweet Blush buttons, Basic Grey stickers and rubons, Zva Creative flowers and some special WRMK trim finish off the card.

And then just a simple little card made with the Papertrey Bird Watching set...I love how the Papertrey stamp designers almost always throw in some images that can be used to create backgrounds.  This set has that fun scroll image used on the pink cardstock.

Some super stuff...

I often wonder how many people wonder about the name of my little blog....sometimes when I think back, I wish I would've chose something prettier or classier for my blog name, but this just fits us.  I love to share bits and pieces of our life along with my paper creations, and super heroes are such a part of our everyday life.  I mean, I know Batman's birthday for pete's sake.  How many of you can say that?  But, what fun is life without heroes that can fly, and drive cool contraptions and rid the world of any sort of bad guy you could imagine with just the lift of a finger?  Ahhh.. the wonderful imagination of children.  I hope they never loose it.  If you want to read the original story of my blog name, you can read it here, from when I started this blog almost 2 years ago (has it been that long??? Crazy!).

It's funny how lots of things haven't changed in nearly two years.  Here....see what I mean?  This is what I had running around my house today.  Sometimes I swear my kids spend more time in costume than normal clothing.  :-)  We got to spend some fun time with cousins today that we rarely see.  The kids had a blast...and aparently love superheroes as much as my own do.  (I LOVE the expression on the littlest one's face....TOTALLY cracks me up!!!)

On to a card...another using Papertrey's new Cupcake collection.  I'm addicted, I know.  This one has a shabby feel...

And just a card for fun, using some new stuff I picked up at A Walk Down Memory Lane...Cosmo Cricket and October Afternoon papers....my two most favoritest paper companies.  They both have that fun style, bright colors, with just a touch of a vintage feel.  Perfectly my style.  LOVE the new Cherry Hill from October Afternoon.  It's so adorable and I am so in to anything with cherries lately!!

Lazy sunshine days.....

Sorry to disappear, it's been a bit crazy here.  I really meant to post every day this week, but time has snuck away on me.  Our weather finally warmed up and the kids have been dying to spend some lazy afternoons at the pool.  So, I've ditched my work for the last few days and have been paying for it until late into the night (or early into the morning...however you want to look at it!)  I'm still knee deep into some fabric projects, but my fingers are itching to get back to my paper and stamps.  Now I remember why paper crafting is my first love.  I really enjoy sewing too, but it's much fussier work, dontcha think?  Takes a lot more time to go back and correct mistakes when sewing.  Can't just stick a sticker over it and call it good!  :-)

Another Papertrey card for you....using the sweet new Cupcake Collection set.  Lots of sweet polka dots and a big ole button flower.  In the center is a jumbo paper brad from Bazzill, which I discovered are pretty fun to stamp on.

I NEED to finish up this fabric playtime...it's GOING to be done when I go to bed tonight.  yes. it is.  Thanks for visiting...all of your sweet comments truly make my day.  Truly.  :-)   'night!!

Be fruitful...

There are definitely those days when I'm feeling like I need to be more fruitful....you?  Somedays I don't feel like I get a whole lot accomplished, but that I spend lots of time doing the same things over and over...pick up stuff that Katie dumps out...clean up the dishes....pick up the stuff Katie dumped out again....make some food...clean up the same stuff the little munchkin dumped out 5 minutes ago...you get the picture.  Oh, and we had a nice little incident at nap time today.  She smuggled a crayon into her crib with her (somehow...no idea how....it was definitely pre-meditated) and colored all over her sheets and crib.  Nice.  Jonathan suggested we do full body searches before putting her to bed.  Probably not a bad idea. Stinker.

Well, even though I may not be feeling real fruitful, I have a fruitful card for you!  Using the new....Fruitful set from PTI.  More glittered fruit...I know, I couldn't stop.  I inked the raspberries with Hibiscus and the new Scarlett Jewel.

All right...off to get these kiddos to bed and see if I can be fruitful and productive and knock some of these projects off my list.  I'm working on some fun fabric projects that I'll hopefully be able to share at some point.....  :-)

June Papertrey!

You know...just when I think those Papertrey stamp designers are gonna say "That's all folks...we're out of ideas.  We've created every stamp set we can possibly think of....thanks for your support."  They come out with another absolutely fabulous release, with new and even more innovative sets than last month!!  Just love it!  I have some June projects to share with you today...more as the week goes along.  :-)

First is the new Fruitful set...I combined those yummy pears with the "Perfect Pair" sentiment from Favor It Wedding.  I inked the pears in both Summer Sunrise and Spring Moss for a pretty shaded look.  One other thing to note....I am LOVING stamping Vintage Cream ink on Vintage Cream or Rustic Cream cardstock using some of the background stamps like Text Style (which I used here).  It doesn't show up a lot, but since Vintage Cream ink is just a bit thicker than the other colors, it dries with just a bit of texture.  I love to ink over the edges with Creamy Brown Chalk ink...it totally brings out the texture for a really pretty look.

Perfect-Pair-Card

I stamped the pears after the background, then stamped the pears again using VersaMark, then used Heat 'n Stick powder and covered them in glitter.  Sounds like a lot of steps, but it's much easier than it sounds.  :-)
